How do our aluminium gutters work?
The concrete gutters that are removed are replaced with a seamless aluminium pre-painted system that is attractive, durable and economical. Most importantly the 'no joints, no leaks' system is the only gutter system to gain British Board of Agreement (BBA) certification.
The continuous aluminium gutter has a BBA CERTIFICATE which gives it a life expectancy of 30 years.
Advantages of the 125mm Continuous Aluminium Pre-Painted Gutter System:
- ATTRACTIVE - Colours DO NOT FADE for 20 years
- STRENGTH - They can hold 3 times as much water as plastic
- DURABLE - 20 Year Warranty – Should last 50 years
- No fittings visible, cannot tell the visual difference to PVC except it doesn’t fade
- ENVIRONMENTALLY - Classed as “green” as it is made from hydropower and fully recyclable
- GUARANTEE - 0.9mm version has BBA certificate for 30 years
- ECONOMIC - Fit once, you won’t replace guttering for decades
- EVERLASTING - The same sealants used as used in the construction of sea walls
- TOUGH - Ogee shape makes it take the weight of a ladder
Everlasting Aluminium Gutters

Aluminium gutters can be seen in many parts of the UK installed prior to 1970. They still work perfectly and, like all well-installed continuous aluminium gutters, are still not leaking!
The HydroCoat Polyester and Polyurethane Guttering 125mm O.G. seamless and continuous aluminium gutter is extruded on-site to fit the house. The gutter machine is in a 7.5 ton truck converted to be a workshop with all the necessary HydroCoat Polyester and Polyurethane Aluminium coil components in racks.
Alu Gutter Colours
White is the prettiest colour choice, but (like all types of white gutter) will show the dirt after a number of years. Darker colours are better for long term visual effect as dirt collected over time is not as apparent. We now have the latest fashionable colour; Anthracite Grey!
LeafGuard & SnowGuard

If you never want to have to clean your gutters again, you may be interested in a product known as Leafguard and Snowguard.
Advantages of Leafguard & SnowGuard
- The leaf guard allows water to be recycled efficiently as it is so debris free.
- No leaves and small pieces can get into gutter. They just float away in the wind.
- Moss stays on top of the leaf guard and will wash over the top in heavy rain.
- Snow can’t get into gutter as the initial snow freezes on top of the mesh. As it melts it just runs off into the drain pipe.
- The leaf guard is tested to take 2ft of rain per hour!
- Long lasting (minimum 40 years).
- Leaf guard comes in different sizes to fit various gutters. It is however NOT suitable for plastic gutters.
Leafguard can be fitted in the gutter at any point; however it is more costly to fit it retrospectively.
Frequently Asked Questions
Aluminium is the material used to form the gutter and is the most durable metal commonly used in architecture as it is resistant to all normal atmospheric corrosion agents.
The material lends itself to several benefits over other types of gutter material in that it is lightweight, long-lasting and strong and has a life expectancy of 30 plus year with zero to no maintenance.
Aluminium naturally generates a protective oxide coating which means it is corrosion resistant, but by adding a polyester powder coating we can provide an attractive, durable and maintenance free finish.
Aluminium is not susceptible to insect or pest damage and is unaffected by fungi, moss, mould, lichens or bacteria.
Under normal atmospheric conditions the factory applied polyester powder coating will retain a good appearance for a minimum of 15 years and will not flake, split, peel or crack as PVC does.
Aluminium is completely unaffected by sunlight and will retain full functionality for the design life of the building. It does not become brittle and prone to splitting in cold conditions.
On a weight to strength ratio aluminium is 23 times stronger than PVC and is resistant to damage by impact, breakage, wind and snow loading or weight of ladders
Aluminium, almost uniquely, is fully, infinitely and economically recyclable and does not contribute to the global waste crisis and poses no environmental hazards.
Unlike UPVC Guttering, seamless aluminium gutter has no joints in its system. The lack of joints in seamless aluminium means that there is no opportunity for the gutters to leak, as is common in traditional jointed UPVC guttering products. A no joint system means that water can be carried safely and effectively away from your home. If your gutter system has leaks, water can spill down the walls of your home, creating fascia and soffit rot, build up of dangerous internal mould and mildew, as well as possible foundation damage and basement flooding.
Furthermore, UPVC joints are not covered under warranty or guarantee from the manufacturers, and their distributors alike, as the failure rate on these items is generally high. Rubber seal failure, is perpetuated by the sand residue off your roof tiles getting into the rubber seal area. Theses abrasive particles wear the rubber seal away with the contraction and expansion of the gutter over time.
In addition, aluminium guttering is expected to last for 30 years and more, which is longer than the life expectancy of the uPVC equivalent. Therefore, they constitute better value in the long run.
Aluminium gutters are extremely robust, hard wearing, non-fading and 100% recyclable. However, with UPVC guttering, their colour may fade somewhat after years of continuous weather exposure, and with extreme temperature changes can cause splitting and cracking over time.
Aluminium gutters are able to hold more water volume than any other type of gutter system and therefore are ideal for periods of heavy downpours.
First and foremost, consult the deeds to your property to see what they say about the shared gutter and drainage.
Often on semi-detached properties and mid-terrace properties, there is only one downpipe servicing the attached properties.
Even when there is one downpipe on each side of a semi-detached property, due to settlement of the properties over time, the level gutter may have subsided on one or both sides. This may in turn create a gentle angle in the flow of water between the adjoining properties, which means that the water may generally only flow towards one of the two existing downpipes anyway. If you then close off where the new gutter will join the existing remaining concrete gutter, the flow of water may pool on the neighbour’s side where it adjoins your gutter, and in turn overflow and cause water ingress into both their and your cavity wall. This could lead to internal and external property damage.
If there are adequate downpipes in place already on your neighbour’s side to cope with this issue, then it is possible that you can close the gutters off. It is best practice to liaise and agree with the neighbours in advance of the action you intend to take.
If you have adequate drainage facilities in existence on your side of the party wall, it is no problem to add additional downpipes as required to facilitate the flow of water as appropriate.
Our custom designed and manufactured aluminium joints ensure we are able to seamlessly join your new aluminium guttering rainwater system to the remaining concrete gutter on your neighbour/s side, ensuring that any flow of water between the adjoining properties can continue uninterrupted.
